"KUNST" OF GUSTAV KLIMT: ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE AUSTRIAN PAINTORS

Austria is a country full of cultural riches, including art, an admirable way to express ourselves, being possible basically through music, dance, painting, sculpture, theater, literature, cinema and photography. In this way, I posted below, a very interesting video about the importance of art in our lives.

Seen this, we’ll now talk about painting the most famous Austrian painters, who revolutionized the traditional art scene with his bold and original work: Gustav Klimt, a symbolist painter and one of the great names in art nouveau. He was the precursor to the “Vienna Secession Movement” in which several artists came together in opposition to classicism and academicism and allied themselves with the symbolist movement in the arts.

Klimt's art is divided into two major phases: the Historical-Realistic phase, which includes works of a more historical character; and the Golden Stage, of a more decorative character, with the production of portraits using geometric shapes, golden and silver colors, similar to the Byzantine art.

In that second moment, when he was most prominent, his works were full of sensualism and eroticism, where the female figure was the most explored, ending up being often criticized by the traditional sectors of society at the time.

Down here there are some of his most famous works (you can click on the pictures of the paintings to see their titles). Many of them are gathered at the Belvedere Museum in Vienna, which receives around 2.000 visitors a year.

The Kiss   The Virgin   Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I

Danaë   Hope II  The Three Ages of Woman

Portrait of Fritza Riedler     Death and Life   Beethoven Frieze

Incredible, right? What I really wished is that we could be able to know these wonders personally, they must be even more impressive. Nowadays it's a bit complicated, but maybe we could plan to visit the museum after these pandemic times... looking forward to it! hahaha
